As mentioned in a previous post, the CC seems to work fine in an empty assembly window and I can place all sorts of parts from the CC to my hearts content. Can apply filters at will with no problems and can insert sample parts that come with inventor and every thing seemed fine. Only when I place a part that I have modelled myself, can be a simple block did the CC crash again. Perhaps it's co-incidental, I really don't know. I have checked all updates and SP's are installed and my Windows 10 is also up to date as far as I can tell. You don't need install other security updates. Then the program will link the new version automatically. Therefore, you should choose the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from here :Īfter the installation, there will be a new folder containing the latest version of components. You can check policies for the shared Visual C++ CRT assembly in %WINDIR%\Winsxs\Policies\x86_policy.9.0._.policy when running Windows XP or in %WINDIR%\Winsxs\Manifests\x86_policy.9.0._.manifest Side-by-side assemblies can also use publisher configuration files, also called policy files, to globally redirect applications and assemblies from using one version of a side-by-side assembly to another There is only one instance (or full data copy) of each version of each file in the OS, and that instance is located in the Winsxs folder.

The Winsxs folder is the only location that the component is found on the system, all other instances of the files that you see on the system are “projected” by hard linking from the component Winsxs ,which stands for Windows Side by Side, refers to the concept of hosting the same files in different versions in the operating system. As far as I know, There is a folder named Winsxs in the Windows directory.
